About Me

Welcome to the home of my crazy brain. I’m Nicole, an aspiring writer from Iowa.

I don’t always understand the world around me, but I’m learning more each day. I want to soak up as much information as I can while I’m here.

Currently, I work at a cemetery. I work directly with grieving families as well as help genealogy fanatics like myself find graves of long-lost relatives. I started researching my own family’s history when I was 14.

I previously worked at a nonprofit whose mission to educate families of kids with disabilities about the resources accessible to them. I have a strong interest in mental health and especially early childhood trauma. My father passed away when I was four, so I have personal experience with early childhood trauma as it’s affected me personally. Just one year before my dad died, I had my first set of cataract surgeries.

During my free time, I read a lot, watch a lot of Netflix and Hulu, and explore the world around me. I have one fur son, Salvatore (named after the Salvatore brothers on The Vampire Diaries), and he is the light of my life. I hope one day soon to adopt a fur brother or sister for Sal. (And I did in October 2016 )

Writing is my therapy. I always say I’m not defined. You could say my brain is a jumbled up mess. I have a variety of interests, but at the end of the day, no matter how challenging and mentally draining it may be, it’s always writing that brings me the most joy. Nothing in this world makes me feel more fulfilled than when I’ve spent an entire day writing.
